1. Privacy at a glance
The following information provides an overview of what happens to your personal data when you visit this website. Personal data means information that can be used to identify you personally.
2. Controller
The controller for processing on this website is KALER Rechtsanwaltsgesellschaft mbH, FOUR – Tower 1, 45th floor, Große Gallusstraße 14, 60315 Frankfurt am Main, Germany. Telephone: +49 69 8088 4768. Email: info@kaler-law.com.
3. Website data and inquiry forms
When you contact us through an inquiry form, we store the information you enter, including contact details, to handle your request and any follow-up questions. Data is transmitted only where necessary for handling the inquiry and on a valid legal basis; technical service providers may act as processors.
Processing is based on Article 6(1)(b) GDPR where the inquiry relates to a contract or is necessary for steps prior to entering into a contract. In other cases, processing is based on our legitimate interest in efficiently handling inquiries addressed to us under Article 6(1)(f) GDPR, or on consent under Article 6(1)(a) GDPR where consent has been requested.
The English contact form collects your name, email, matter category, short description and any optional business, counterparty, claim or scheduling details. The formation form collects your project, business activity, name and email, plus any optional legal form, participants, location, timing, services and questions you provide. Technical request and existing source-attribution data may also be processed.
Inquiries are stored in the firm's contact system and routed to the responsible team using the existing intake and email services. Authorised staff and technical service providers involved in these systems may process the data for these purposes. Do not send confidential documents or sensitive personal information in an initial inquiry.
We retain inquiries as necessary to handle them and decide on a possible engagement. If an engagement follows, the applicable professional and statutory retention requirements also apply. Data is deleted when no longer needed unless retention duties or the establishment, exercise or defence of legal claims require otherwise. Service-provider processing, including any relevant international processing, must follow the applicable GDPR requirements.
4. Your rights
You may request information free of charge about the origin, recipients and purposes of your stored personal data. You may also request rectification or erasure. If you have consented to processing, you may withdraw consent at any time with effect for the future. In certain circumstances you may request restriction of processing. You also have the right to complain to the competent supervisory authority.
Where processing is based on legitimate interests, you may object on grounds relating to your particular situation under Article 21 GDPR. Where the applicable conditions are met, you may request data portability. Contact info@kaler-law.com for these rights or other privacy questions.
5. KALER external legal department inquiries
If you separately request the information pack, we process your contact details and selected language solely to email the requested PDF once. This does not subscribe you to a newsletter or accept an engagement. The temporary request administration stores an inquiry identifier and a check value to prevent duplicate sending, rather than contact details. These records expire after 24 hours and are then regularly deleted. Delivery uses the existing email infrastructure; the sent message is subject to that infrastructure's retention.
For inquiries about ongoing business support, we process name, business email, company, role, preferred contact method and selected advisory needs. Telephone and employee count are optional unless you request a callback. Please do not send confidential facts or documents through this form.
We use these details to handle the specific inquiry and prepare a possible working relationship. The legal basis is Article 6(1)(b) GDPR for inquiries from the prospective contracting person, and Article 6(1)(f) GDPR for company contacts and orderly inquiry handling. Our legitimate interest is communicating with interested businesses. Acknowledging the notice is not consent to a newsletter or advertising tracking.
Before support inquiries are processed, you confirm your email using a random link valid for 24 hours. Unconfirmed details are regularly deleted after expiry, generally hourly, from the temporary inquiry administration. Once confirmed, the temporary form content is removed and the confirmed inquiry is handled in the firm's administration system.
Access is limited to staff responsible for the inquiry. We use technical providers and our existing infrastructure for hosting, email delivery and firm administration, particularly Microsoft 365 for email and SILCROW for firm intake. Data is not passed on for independent advertising. Provider involvement rests on the relevant legal basis and required agreements, rather than a blanket consent.
Confirmed inquiries are retained as needed for handling and deciding on a working relationship. Engagement records are additionally subject to the relevant retention rules. When the purpose ends, data is deleted unless legal duties or necessary legal defence require retention. Send deletion requests to info@kaler-law.com; connected systems are also considered.
We internally record receipt, processing steps and a predefined source category, such as Google search or a professional article, to allocate inquiries and organise collaboration. Under this inquiry process, these details are not transmitted to Google Ads as personal conversion data. Internal suitability assessment does not result in an exclusively automated decision on accepting an engagement. On request, we explain your rights, including objection to processing based on legitimate interests.
6. Language selection
For public pages with an English version, we use the browser's language setting to select German or English. The language choice does not use an external geolocation service. When you actively select DE or EN, the functional cookie kaler_language stores only that choice for up to one year so it takes precedence on later visits. It is not used for advertising or profiling. You can change the choice using the language switch or remove the cookie in your browser.
